Have you ever wondered why some of the grihasthas wear 3 threads in yangnopaveetham where most of us have 2 threads.A third one is
basically a substitute of angavastram(Upper cloth).
A Brahmin is always supposed to have a angavastram over his chest.In case if it is not available at a specific time and he is not able to wear it then the third thread acts as a substitute for this.
